Extortion in Uniform: Police station City Jaranwala Police Embroiled in Audio Leak Scandal
A scandal has erupted at the Thana City Jardanwala Police station, where employees were caught on audio demanding lakhs of rupees from a drug dealer’s mastermind in exchange for his release. The police had arrested a drug dealer named Bilal with 25 grams of hashish and then called his ringleader Zubair, demanding money for his release. The police allegedly told Zubair that a case of 900 grams had been filed against Bilal and offered to reduce the charge in exchange for Rs. 200,000.
The City Police Officer (CPO) has taken swift action, suspending three employees, including the gunman of SHO City Jardanwala Rana Muhammad Ali, and appointing SP Jardanwala Abid Hussain Zafar as the inquiry officer. The suspended employees include Shahzad Dahaldar Atiq, the gunman, and Naeem Haraf Nima, a police employee. The inquiry officer has been asked to submit a report, and a high-level investigation has been launched into the allegations of extortion and corruption.
