Exclusive: Iranian Hackers Successfully Leak Trump Campaign Emails
Washington, Oct 25 – Accused Iranian hackers have reportedly succeeded in distributing stolen emails from the campaign of U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump after initial efforts to involve mainstream media were unsuccessful.
In recent weeks, the hackers, previously unable to secure widespread coverage for the stolen material, allegedly began sharing the Trump emails with a Democratic political operative affiliated with American Muckrakers, a political action committee. The operative subsequently published the trove on the PAC’s website and shared it with independent journalists. At least one journalist posted parts of the emails on the platform Substack.
The leaked materials contain communications between Trump’s campaign and external advisers, revealing discussions on various topics in the lead-up to the 2024 election. While the full extent and implications of the material remain unclear, the incident highlights ongoing cybersecurity threats and the political implications of such leaks in the 2024 election cycle.
