Dutch FM: EU Must Maintain Diplomatic Dialogue with Israel Amid Tensions

Brussels – Dutch Foreign Minister Caspar Veldkamp has urged the European Union to continue its diplomatic engagement with Israel despite rising tensions in the Middle East. His remarks came in opposition to EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell, who last week suggested pausing political dialogue with Israel over concerns about potential human rights violations during the ongoing war in Gaza.

Borrell had proposed suspending talks with Israel, arguing that the EU needs to apply greater pressure on the Israeli government in response to the conflict. However, Veldkamp emphasized the importance of maintaining open channels of communication to address the crisis.
