Dubai Named Most Reputable City in the World in 2024 Global City Index

London: Dubai has been ranked the most reputable city in the world in the 2024 Brand Finance Global City Index, jumping to 5th place overall, up from 9th last year. While London remains at the top, Dubai’s rise was fueled by improvements in its investment appeal and global reputation.

The city’s success is attributed to its strong governance and strategic investments in infrastructure, tourism, and business. These efforts have helped Dubai become a top destination for tourists, businesses, and investors.

Riyadh and Jeddah also showed progress, with Riyadh climbing 4 places to 75th and Jeddah moving up 6 places to 79th. Riyadh’s improvements were noted in areas like sports, education, and entertainment.

According to Andrew Campbell, Managing Director of Brand Finance Middle East, the improvements in Dubai and other cities are a result of government investments in key areas that have made the region more attractive globally. Dubai also moved up in rankings for local working (from 16th to 8th) and remote working (from 24th to 4th).

Abu Dhabi held steady at 30th but saw growth in science, technology, and economic appeal.

Other cities from the Middle East and North Africa that appeared on the list include Cairo (63rd), Doha (69th), Casablanca (73rd), and Tel Aviv (83rd), which dropped in ranking due to ongoing conflicts.

The Brand Finance Global City Index is based on a survey of over 15,000 people worldwide, measuring factors like reputation, familiarity, and how desirable a city is for living, working, and investing.
