Court Rejects Imran Khan’s Plea for Delay in £190 Million Scam Case
The Accountability Court has postponed the hearing of the £190 million scam reference against Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi until August 29. During the hearing, Khan and his wife appeared in court, represented by their legal team, including Khalid Yusuf Chaudhry, Naeem Panjutha, and Faisal Chaudhry. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) team, led by Prosecutor General Sardar Muzaffar Abbasi, also appeared in court.
The court rejected a request by Khan’s lawyers to adjourn the hearing until September 3, citing the unavailability of lawyers. Instead, the court granted a final chance to cross-examine the reference investigation officer, Deputy Director Mian Umar Nadeem. However, the cross-examination could not be completed due to the absence of Khan’s lawyers.
In a dramatic turn of events, Bushra Bibi complained to the court about the poor conditions of her barracks, citing a rat infestation that has persisted for three months. The court summoned the Deputy Superintendent and ordered them to resolve the issue.
The hearing was eventually adjourned until August 29, with the court set to continue the cross-examination of the reference investigation officer.
