Chief Justice of Pakistan Leads Online Meeting on Jail Reforms

Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Yahya Afridi, chaired an online meeting to discuss jail reforms and follow up on the previous meeting about prison improvements. The meeting was attended by Lahore High Court Chief Justice Aalia Neelam, Administrative Judge Justice Shams Mehmood Mirza, former Justice Shabir Raza Rizvi, and others, including Senator Ahd Cheema and Khadijah Shah.

In the meeting, Amina Qadir was appointed as the Coordinator of the Jail Reforms Subcommittee. She, along with Senator Ahd Cheema and Khadijah Shah, will visit jails in Punjab and prepare a detailed report.

The subcommittee will work with the Lahore High Court, the Law and Justice Commission, police, and jail authorities to gather input. All relevant agencies are asked to provide their suggestions for improving the criminal justice system.

The subcommittee will complete its report and share it with Justice Shabir Raza Rizvi for review. Chief Justice Afridi assured full support for the reforms and instructed the Law and Justice Commission to assist with logistics.
