Bumrah’s Five-Wicket Haul Sends Australia Reeling on Day Two of First Test

Perth, Nov 23, 2024 – Australia was bowled out for just 104 on Saturday, trailing India by 46 runs at lunch on day two of the first Test in Perth. Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah delivered a devastating performance, claiming his 11th five-wicket haul, with figures of 5-30.

Bumrah set the tone right from the start, taking the key wicket of Australia’s stand-in captain Alex Carey (21) with his first delivery of the morning. The ball, pitched back-of-a-length, seamed away from the left-hander to be caught by wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant.

India had earlier been bowled out for 150 on the chaotic first day of the match, with 17 wickets falling in total. However, Bumrah’s inspired spell led a magnificent turnaround, as Australia was reduced to a precarious 67-7 by stumps on day one. With Bumrah leading the charge, India now holds a solid advantage in the match.
