Brendan Murphy Discusses His First Solo Exhibition in Riyadh

RIYADH: American contemporary artist Brendan Murphy showcased his solo exhibition, Complete Control, at Ahlam Gallery in Riyadh on November 7. This exhibition marks the final stop of a global tour that began in June 2024 at Fineart Oslo.

The exhibition features Murphy’s signature Spaceman sculptures, along with a special focus on his limited-edition collectible series, Magication. These pieces explore the intersection of art and imagination, inviting viewers to engage with the concept of control, freedom, and the surreal.

In an exclusive interview with Arab News, Murphy shared that his primary aim with this exhibition is to bring people “into the moment” and encourage a deeper connection with the art. He also expressed a sense of “creative cultural resonance” with Saudi Arabia, noting the Kingdom’s growing appreciation for contemporary art. “There is a clear appetite for creative works here,” he said, highlighting the country’s vibrant art scene and its evolving support for international artists.

Murphy’s work in Riyadh is part of a broader cultural exchange that emphasizes the role of art in bridging diverse global perspectives. His exhibition is expected to continue sparking conversations on the role of art in modern society and the expanding creative landscape of the Middle East.
