Australia Clinches 29-Run Victory Over Pakistan in Rain-Shortened First T20
Australia defeated Pakistan by 29 runs in the first T20 match of the series, which was affected by rain and shortened to 7 overs per side. Pakistan was set a target of 94 runs but was all out for just 64 runs in their chase.
Australia batted first and scored 93/4 in 7 overs. Glenn Maxwell was the top scorer, making 43 runs off 19 balls. Despite an early wicket loss, Maxwell’s quick knock, along with contributions from Marcus Stoinis (21*), helped set a challenging target.
Pakistan’s chase started badly. Sahibzada Farhan (8) and Mohammad Rizwan (0) were both dismissed early. Babar Azam (3) and Usman Khan (4) also fell quickly, and the middle order failed to recover. Abbas Afridi top-scored with 20 runs, but Pakistan could not reach the target.
Australia’s bowlers, Nathan Ellis and Xavier Bartlett, were excellent, each taking 3 wickets. Despite the rain delays and a shortened match, Australia secured a comfortable win and now leads the series 1-0. Pakistan will need to improve in the second match to stay in the series.
