Apple Releases Critical Security Updates Ahead of iPhone 16 Launch

Apple Inc. has released a slew of security updates for its operating systems, addressing vulnerabilities in iOS, macOS, tvOS, visionOS, watchOS, and Safari.

The updates, announced ahead of the highly-anticipated iPhone 16 release on September 20, aim to bolster the security of Apple devices. The company typically withholds disclosure of security issues pending investigation to safeguard users.

The UAE Cyber Security Council has urged Apple users to apply the updates, emphasizing the importance of keeping software up-to-date to maintain device security.

“Updating software is a critical step in protecting Apple products from potential threats,” the Council stated.

Key details:

  • Latest iOS and iPadOS version: 18
  • Software updates are irreversible once installed

In a separate development, the UAE Cyber Security Council and Technology Innovation Institute (TII) will host ‘CyberQ: Security in the Quantum Era’ on November 12-13 in Abu Dhabi. The inaugural event convenes international experts, policymakers, and industry leaders to address emerging quantum-era cybersecurity challenges.

“CyberQ aims to spearhead conversations on preparedness and prevention, positioning the UAE at the forefront of quantum-safe cyber security solutions,” organizers said.
