Afghanistan’s Taliban Reacts to Trump’s 2024 U.S. Election Victory

KABUL: The Taliban government in Afghanistan has expressed hope following Donald Trump’s victory in the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election. Afghan officials said they expect the new U.S. administration to take practical steps in improving relations with Afghanistan.

The Taliban pointed out that the 2020 Doha Agreement, which ended the 20-year U.S. military presence in Afghanistan, was signed during Trump’s first term. They are hopeful that Trump’s second term will bring more progress and cooperation.

Afghanistan also hopes Trump will play a role in ending ongoing conflicts in Gaza and Lebanon. The election results show Trump won 277 electoral votes, defeating Vice President Kamala Harris, who received 226 votes.
