Mushtaq Ahmed Appointed Spin Bowling Coach for Bangladesh National Team
Dhaka – The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has officially appointed former Pakistan leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed as the spin bowling coach of the national cricket team. This announcement comes as the team prepares for a crucial Test series against South Africa, set to begin on October 21 in Chattogram.
A top BCB official confirmed that Mushtaq will be available for the upcoming series and is expected to work with the team on a series-to-series basis thereafter. The board is keen to secure him on a long-term deal through the end of the year, contingent on his availability.
Mushtaq previously served as the spin bowling coach during the T20 World Cup 2024 and in the series against Pakistan, but he was not part of the coaching staff for the recent series against India. His return is seen as crucial for bolstering the team’s spin department ahead of the upcoming challenges.
In addition to the Test series against South Africa, the Bangladesh cricket team is scheduled to face Afghanistan and the West Indies in one-day series, though Mushtaq’s participation in those matches will depend on scheduling and BCB requirements.
