Imran Khan Faces Dire Jail Conditions: No Electricity for Five Days, Limited Outdoor Time
Imran Khan Faces Challenging Conditions in Adiala Jail, PTI Leaders Report
Islamabad – In a recent press conference, Barrister Gohar, Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), shed light on the difficult conditions faced by Imran Khan during a 45-minute meeting in Adiala Jail. Khan, who has been incarcerated, reportedly has experienced five days without electricity and has been denied the opportunity for exercise over the past two weeks.
Gohar detailed Khan’s limited access to the outside world, mentioning that he is only permitted to leave his cell for two and a half hours daily. “Imran Khan is committed to the sovereignty of our nation and will never compromise on it,” Gohar stated, emphasizing the former Prime Minister’s resilience despite the adverse circumstances.
During the meeting, Khan expressed concern over his lack of access to news, having been without a television for two weeks. He condemned the recent arrests of his family members, specifically his sisters, and called for urgent attention to their situation.
The PTI leadership briefed Khan on ongoing constitutional amendments, to which he responded positively, acknowledging the potential for negotiations with political allies. Gohar mentioned that Khan praised Maulana Sahib for his support and willingness to stand by him.
Despite their hopes for a longer discussion, the meeting was cut short after about half an hour. Khan provided four names for further consultations, indicating a readiness to engage in dialogue about the party’s future.
In a separate update, PTI lawyer Salman Akram Raja tweeted that Khan’s health remains stable, though he reiterated concerns about the conditions of his imprisonment.
As calls for improved treatment of Khan intensify, the PTI leadership continues to advocate for his rights, highlighting the importance of maintaining proper facilities for him during this challenging time.
