New Mobile App to Reduce Cost of Immigration for Pakistani Workers
The Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis has decided to launch a mobile app and implement an Immigrant Management Framework to monitor, transparency, and digitize the immigration process of overseas workers. This decision comes after an overseas employment promoter sent 92 nurses to Saudi Arabia with fake documents, resulting in their deportation.
The inquiry committee’s recommendations include taking action against the overseas employment promoters who uploaded fake documents and violated the rules of the Bureau of Immigration. The committee also suggested establishing a data flow regime between the Bureau of Immigration and licensed promoters to track documents uploaded on the overseas workers’ portal.
Furthermore, the ministry has decided to launch a mobile app to reduce the cost of immigration for workers, implement an immigrant framework, and revamp the regulatory framework to make the process faster and more transparent. Changes will also be made to the process of issuing performance-based licenses to overseas employment promoters, and a performance audit of all promoters will be conducted to ensure scrutiny.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has been directed to take formal action and investigate officials of the Overseas Employment Promoters and the Bureau of Immigration. To avoid international embarrassment, all protectorate offices are required to review complete data and make it part of the official record before issuing a protectorate.
