Trump Appoints Two Arab Americans to Key Cabinet Positions
Chicago, November 24, 2024: President-elect Donald Trump has made history by nominating two Arab Americans to prominent positions in his upcoming administration. Dr. Janette Nesheiwat, a double board-certified medical doctor, has been nominated to serve as the U.S. Surgeon General, while Dr. Marty Makary, a renowned surgeon and public health expert, has been tapped to head the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The nominations have been widely praised, with Dr. Bishara Bahbah, chairman of Arab Americans for Trump, expressing strong support. “We are delighted with President Trump’s nomination of the first two Arab Americans to be part of his administration,” said Bahbah in a message to Arab News on Saturday. He went on to emphasize that the appointments reflect the significant role Arab Americans played in Trump’s victory, particularly in securing nearly half of the Arab American vote against U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris in the November 5 election.
