Blinken to Attend G7 Meeting in Italy Amid Rising Tensions Over Ukraine
WASHINGTON, Nov 22 – U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken is set to attend a meeting of the Group of Seven (G7) major democracies this weekend in Italy, as global tensions continue to escalate due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, the U.S. State Department announced on Friday.
The G7 leaders, in a recent meeting, reiterated their commitment to imposing severe costs on Russia for its invasion of Ukraine. This includes sanctions, export controls, and other measures, while pledging to support Kyiv for as long as necessary in its fight against Russian aggression.
