Ukraine Cancels Parliamentary Session as Russia Unveils New Ballistic Missile
KYIV, November 22, 2024 – Ukraine’s parliament canceled its session on Friday as security was heightened following Russia’s deployment of a new ballistic missile, escalating tensions in the nearly three-year-long war. The missile, which targeted a missile factory in Dnipro, is part of Russia’s response to Ukraine’s use of longer-range Western missiles.
Meanwhile, Russian Shahed drones struck Sumy overnight, killing two and injuring 12 others in a residential district. The drones, reportedly loaded with shrapnel, were described as weapons intended to target civilians rather than infrastructure.
Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky visited Kyiv to assess the impact of the bombings and evaluate international aid efforts. Security measures around Kyiv were reinforced, and residents were warned of the increased threat from missile attacks. The Ukrainian government continues to operate under heightened security, with President Zelensky’s office maintaining standard protocols.
