China Claims Victory Over Telecom Fraud Centers in Northern Myanmar
Beijing, November 21, 2024 – China announced that its law enforcement, in collaboration with Myanmar authorities, has “wiped out” large telecom fraud centers operating in northern Myanmar. The operation, which took place over the weekend, resulted in the arrest of more than 700 individuals.
This move follows China’s campaign launched last year to combat telecom fraud, especially targeting Chinese citizens. Since the operation began, over 53,000 Chinese nationals suspected of involvement in fraud have been arrested, according to China’s Ministry of Public Security.
