US Explains Land Mine Support for Ukraine; Taiwan’s Position on Military Aid
Washington, November 21, 2024 – U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has outlined the rationale behind the U.S. decision to provide land mines to Ukraine, emphasizing their strategic importance in the ongoing conflict with Russia. Austin’s statement comes amid growing scrutiny and debates over the use of such weapons.
Meanwhile, Taiwan’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Francois Wu, clarified that Taiwan is not involved in providing military assistance to Ukraine, citing the issue as “too sensitive.” However, Taiwan is interested in establishing a “representative office” in Ukraine to strengthen diplomatic ties.
