Alibaba Combines E-Commerce Arms to Strengthen Against Competition

Shanghai – Alibaba Group has announced the integration of its domestic and international e-commerce platforms into a single business unit, marking a major restructuring effort to stay competitive in a challenging market. This new unit, called the Alibaba E-Commerce Business Group, will combine the Taobao and Tmall Group with the Alibaba International Digital Commerce (AIDC) Group.

The newly formed group will be led by a single leader, overseeing a diverse range of platforms, including the cross-border marketplace AliExpress, the B2B site Alibaba.com, and other regional platforms. This move comes as Alibaba faces increasing competition both within China and globally, as the company looks to streamline its operations and bolster its position in the e-commerce sector.

By merging these platforms under one umbrella, Alibaba aims to create greater efficiency and adaptability in the face of growing market pressures.
