Pakistan Launches Free Air Ambulance Service at $540 Per Hour
LAHORE– The Punjab government has started a free air ambulance service to transport critically ill patients from remote areas to major hospitals. The service uses three small planes and two helicopters, with the government paying $540 per hour for their use.
The service, which began in July, has already successfully transported 25 patients. It is designed to meet international standards, and aircraft will be stationed at three locations in Punjab. Landing zones will be set up near hospitals for easy access.
Doctors, nurses, and paramedics are being trained to provide medical care during transport. The service has already helped transfer patients from hospitals in Mianwali, Rahim Yar Khan, and Rawalpindi to larger medical facilities in Punjab.
