Ukraine Strikes Russia with British Storm Shadow Missiles, Escalating Conflict

KYIV- Ukraine fired a series of British-made Storm Shadow cruise missiles into Russia on Wednesday, marking the latest use of advanced Western weaponry in the conflict, just a day after launching U.S. ATACMS missiles at Russian targets.

The missile strikes, confirmed by Russian war correspondents on Telegram and an anonymous official, targeted Russia’s Kursk region, hundreds of kilometers from the border. Moscow has warned that the use of such long-range Western weapons against Russian territory would constitute a major escalation in the war.

Ukraine, however, asserts that it needs these capabilities to target Russian rear bases that support Moscow’s ongoing invasion, which recently marked its 1,000th day.

Russian Telegram channels shared footage of the strikes, including the sound of multiple explosions and the whistle of incoming missiles. One pro-Russian channel claimed that up to 12 Storm Shadow missiles had been fired into Kursk, showing missile debris with the “Storm Shadow” name visible.
