Missile Falls into Red Sea Near Yemeni Coast, UK Maritime Agency Reports

Nov 17 – A ship passing through the Red Sea, 25 nautical miles west of al-Mukha, Yemen, reported on Sunday that a missile had splashed into the sea nearby, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said.

The agency did not disclose the name or owner of the vessel but confirmed that the ship and its crew were safe and continued their journey to the next port of call.

The missile incident comes amid ongoing attacks by the Yemen-based Houthi group on shipping vessels in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, targeting Israel-linked vessels as part of their stated campaign in solidarity with Palestinians. The Houthis have escalated their attacks on maritime traffic in the region since November 2023.
