PCB Confirms Jason Gillespie Will Lead Pakistan for South Africa Tests

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed that Jason Gillespie will remain the head coach for Pakistan’s upcoming two-Test series against South Africa. Despite recent reports suggesting a potential coaching change, the PCB has clarified that Gillespie’s contract, which runs through to 2026, remains in place for the time being.

There had been speculation that Gillespie’s tenure could be short-lived, with former cricketer Aaqib Javed reportedly lined up as a potential replacement. Aaqib, who is seen as a frontrunner for the vacant white-ball coaching position following Gary Kirsten’s resignation, could also take on the role of all-format coach.

However, the PCB has denied that Gillespie’s position is under immediate threat, reaffirming his role for the upcoming South Africa series. The board also announced that the white-ball coaching role remains unfilled, with Pakistan’s limited-overs tour of Zimbabwe scheduled to begin next Sunday.
