Forty-Five Suspects Investigated for Violence During Amsterdam Football Match
AMSTERDAM — Dutch police are investigating 45 people for violent crimes related to unrest during a football match between Maccabi Tel Aviv and Ajax in Amsterdam on November 7. Nine suspects have already been arrested.
Police Chief Janny Knol said the investigation is looking into crimes committed before, during, and after the match. Tensions flared when Israeli fans chanted anti-Arab slogans, vandalized a taxi, and burned a Palestinian flag in Amsterdam’s main square.
The number of suspects could rise as police analyze a large amount of video footage from the event.
