Slum Family Holds Lavish Memorial for Mother, Spending Over 17 Million

Gujranwala, Pakistan — In a remarkable display of love and devotion, six children from a slum area in Gujranwala organized an extravagant memorial for their late mother, Sakina Bibi, on the 40th day after her passing. Despite coming from modest backgrounds, the family spent over 17 million Pakistani Rupees (approximately 1.17 crore) to host the lavish ceremony, which was attended by more than 8,000 guests from all across the country.

The memorial took place at the Rahwali Railway Station ground, where guests were treated to a grand feast. A total of 250 goats were slaughtered to provide food for the attendees, with a special breakfast of siri paye (cow trotters), hot naan, and rice. For the evening meal, mutton, rice, and a dessert made from Gujranwala apples were served.

To ensure the comfort of the guests, the family arranged private marquees with chairs for seating, and food was served in three shifts to accommodate the large crowd. In addition to the meal, the family made arrangements for parking for 2,000 cars, ensuring smooth logistics for the influx of guests.

Around 500 workers were assigned to manage the event, assisting with food service and ensuring the smooth running of the ceremony. The spectacle has left the local community in awe, as such a lavish event is rare in the area, especially coming from a family with limited means.

The overwhelming generosity and effort put into this event by the children have impressed many in the region, highlighting their deep love and respect for their mother. It serves as a poignant reminder that, regardless of financial status, family bonds and devotion can inspire extraordinary acts of care. any challenges, including financial ones.
