Pakistan’s Firewall Upgrade Project Makes Rapid Progress
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is making swift progress on the firewall upgrade project, aimed at addressing complaints of slow internet speeds. To minimize disruptions, PTA has instructed the technical team to work on the firewall during off-peak hours and conduct large-scale trials only after thorough testing.
However, the upgrade process is facing challenges due to the diverse range of devices used by telecom companies, including Cisco, Huawei, and ZTEK. Configuration issues and technical problems are arising from the non-compatibility of these devices.
Despite these hurdles, PTA remains optimistic, acknowledging that initial technical issues are normal and will be overcome. The project’s success is crucial for enhancing Pakistan’s internet infrastructure and ensuring a seamless online experience for users.
