IAEA Chief Visits Iran’s Sensitive Nuclear Plants Amid Rising Concerns

The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, has visited two key Iranian uranium enrichment plants, which have been at the center of Western concerns about Iran’s nuclear ambitions. This visit follows Tehran’s offer to address international “doubts” regarding its nuclear activities.

Grossi’s tour of the Natanz and Fordo plants is seen as crucial for both technical monitoring and symbolic reasons. Natanz is Iran’s main uranium enrichment site, while Fordo houses some of the country’s most advanced centrifuges, making it one of the most sensitive sites regarding nuclear proliferation.

Experts like Samuel Hickey from the Center for Arms Control and Non-Proliferation suggest that the visit signals Iran’s willingness to engage diplomatically, providing international access to these sensitive sites as part of efforts to ease growing concerns over its nuclear program.
