Kidney Patients in Gaza Struggle After Israeli Attacks Destroy Dialysis Machines
Kidney patients in Gaza are facing a life-threatening crisis after Israeli airstrikes destroyed dialysis machines, leaving many without access to the treatment they need to survive.
Omda Ouda Dogomash, a kidney patient, explained, “Now I only get treatment twice a week, for just two hours, and that’s not enough. We are starving, can’t find clean water, and are living in tents. Even basic medicines aren’t available.”
Dr. Saeed Khattab, a doctor at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in central Gaza, said that Israeli forces purposely destroyed 60 dialysis machines at Al-Shifa Hospital, which treated 350 patients, including children. He added, “Now, the patients are being treated at our hospital, but it’s overwhelming. We’re also facing electricity shortages, which means we have to reduce dialysis hours, and this is seriously affecting the patients’ health.”
With hospitals overwhelmed and resources limited, kidney patients in Gaza are fighting to survive amid the ongoing conflict.(By Aljazeera)
