Israeli Airstrike Targets Beirut Suburb Amid US Efforts for Ceasefire

BEIRUT, Nov 15 – An Israeli airstrike struck a building near one of Beirut’s busiest traffic junctions on Friday, as Israel continued its intensified bombing campaign on Hezbollah-controlled areas of the Lebanese capital. The airstrike, one of several on Friday morning, targeted the vicinity of the Tayouneh junction, located at the crossroads of the Hezbollah-controlled southern suburbs and other parts of the city, marking a shift towards more central targets.

This escalation follows a week of intensified Israeli airstrikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut, an area heavily controlled by Hezbollah. The timing of the bombardment coincides with growing U.S.-led diplomatic efforts aimed at negotiating a ceasefire to end the ongoing conflict.

On Thursday, U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon, Dorothy Shea, reportedly presented a draft truce proposal to Lebanon’s parliament speaker, Nabih Berri, who is backed by Hezbollah for negotiations. Two senior Lebanese political sources confirmed the submission of the proposal, though the details remain unclear.

The continued airstrikes and diplomatic efforts suggest a critical moment in the conflict, with both military and political developments unfolding in parallel.
