Saudi Arabia Uncovers Drug Smuggling Network at Al Jawf Airport
Riyadh, Nov 14 – Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior has uncovered a sophisticated criminal network smuggling drugs into the Kingdom through Al Jawf International Airport. Authorities, acting on reliable intelligence, successfully arrested several individuals involved in the operation.
Nine Saudi citizens were apprehended, including officials from key government agencies. Those arrested include one individual from the Ministry of Interior, four employees from the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, and one worker from the Saudi Electricity Company.
The accused were involved in various roles within the smuggling operation, including receiving the drugs, bringing them into the Kingdom through unchecked luggage, transporting the narcotics, and concealing them in homes and other locations. The network was also engaged in the promotion and trade of illegal drugs.
The Ministry of Interior emphasized that the authorities will continue to take strong action against anyone attempting to undermine the security and stability of Saudi Arabia, as well as the safety of its citizens and residents. The ministry reiterated its commitment to maintaining vigilance against all criminal activities that threaten national security.
