Imran Khan Calls Off Islamabad Gathering, New Date Set for Sept 8

As of August 22, 2024, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has postponed the public gathering in Islamabad, previously scheduled for today. PTI leader Azam Swati announced the decision during a press conference, citing Imran Khan’s directives. The move comes after the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration revoked the rally permit late last night, leading to heightened security measures across Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Containers have been placed around the Red Zone, blocking all roads leading to the area, and security has been placed on high alert. Access to the Red Zone is restricted, with only government employees allowed to enter by showing their office cards. Due to the security measures and the ongoing Pakistan-Bangladesh Cricket Test match in Rawalpindi, the Islamabad administration has declared a holiday for educational institutions across the city. The PTI public gathering has been rescheduled for September 8, and all PTI caravans have been instructed to return to their home destinations.
