Green Pakistan Initiative: 10 Million Saplings to be Planted Across Punjab
To commemorate the 77th Independence Day, the Punjab Forestry Department has embarked on a massive tree plantation drive under the “Green Pakistan Initiative”. This groundbreaking effort aims to plant over 10 million saplings across Punjab, paving the way for a sustainable and green future. In a historic first, paragliders dispersed 20,000 seed balls in Chakwal district’s hilly areas, while helicopters distributed 20 kg of pine seeds in Murree Division with the support of SIFC and the Pakistan Army.
On a single day, various government departments planted over 3 million saplings, with the Forest Department leading the charge with 1.5 lakh saplings, followed by the Department of Education, Health, and District Administration with 1.4 lakh, and Parks and Horticulture with 1 lakh. The campaign’s progress will be tracked through geo-tagging and monitored on the ‘Plant for Pakistan’ app, ensuring transparency and accountability. This initiative, supported by SIFC, is part of a broader monsoon plantation drive that promises a greener, more sustainable Pakistan.
