Trump Appoints Elon Musk to Lead Government Efficiency Effort
Nov 13, 2024 – U.S. President-elect Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that he has appointed Elon Musk to help improve government efficiency. Musk, the world’s richest person and a major Trump supporter, will co-lead a new government department aimed at cutting waste, reducing regulations, and streamlining federal agencies.
Musk will work alongside Vivek Ramaswamy, a former Republican presidential candidate, in leading the Department of Government Efficiency. Trump said the department will focus on making government work better by bringing in outside ideas, and it won’t be a formal government agency, so it doesn’t need Senate approval.
This new role allows Musk to continue leading his companies – Tesla, SpaceX, and X (formerly Twitter) – while advising the government on how to cut bureaucratic red tape and make federal operations more efficient.
