Police Officer Admits to Supplying Weapons and Explosives for Terror Attacks
Peshawar, November 12, 2024 – Mohammad Wali, the police officer who helped plan the Peshawar Police Lines suicide attack, has confessed to his involvement and revealed shocking details about his ties to the banned terrorist group, Jamaat-ul-Ahrar.
In his confession, Wali admitted to assisting the bomber in carrying out the January 2023 attack. He explained that he was in contact with a group member named Junaid, who convinced him to join Jamaat-ul-Ahrar in 2021. Wali traveled to Afghanistan, swore allegiance to the group’s leader, and was given money to support their activities.
Wali revealed that, in 2023, he was instructed by Junaid to carry out a revenge attack for the killing of a key figure in the group. He helped the bomber with a reconnaissance of the Police Lines and later dropped him off at the site. After the attack, Wali confirmed it to Junaid and was paid Rs 200,000 for his role.
Wali also confessed to being involved in other terrorist activities, including a church bombing in January 2022 and several attacks in Peshawar over the past few years. He supplied weapons and explosives for these attacks and received monthly payments from Jamaat-ul-Ahrar.
Authorities are continuing to investigate Wali’s connections to the group, and the police chief of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa confirmed that the main facilitator behind the bombing has been arrested.
