Trump’s Hush Money Case Put on Hold by New York Judge
New York, Nov 12 (Reuters) – A New York judge has postponed action in the case against President-elect Donald Trump over hush money payments made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels. The judge, Justice Juan Merchan, has delayed any decision until at least November 19.
The delay comes after a U.S. Supreme Court ruling in July that gives presidents immunity from prosecution for actions related to their official duties. Trump’s legal team argues that the hush money payments were made as part of his campaign, not personal conduct.
The case involves payments made during the 2016 election to prevent Daniels from revealing an alleged affair with Trump. This legal issue is one of many challenges Trump is facing in the courts.
A new hearing is set for Nov. 19, where the judge will decide the next steps.
