Bus Carrying Wedding Guests Crashes into Indus River, 11 Dead, 9 Missing

Gilgit-Baltistan: A tragic accident occurred when a bus carrying wedding guests from Astore to Rawalpindi fell into the Indus River. Eleven people died, and nine others are still missing.

The bus was traveling at high speed when the driver lost control near the Thalechi area. The bus broke through a bridge railing and crashed into the river.

Police said the bus hit a rock after going off the bridge and then sank. There were 23 people on the bus.

So far, 11 bodies have been recovered, and three injured people, including a woman, were taken to the hospital. Rescue efforts are still underway to find the missing.

The Deputy Commissioner of Astore confirmed the accident happened because of the driver’s carelessness.

Both the Federal Minister for Interior, Mohsin Naqvi, and Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed their sadness and offered condolences to the families of the victims.
