Trump and Putin Hold Talks on Ukraine, Biden to Seek Trump’s Commitment to Kyiv
West Palm Beach, Florida/Washington, Nov 10, 2024 — U.S. President-elect Donald Trump spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin recently and urged him not to escalate the ongoing war in Ukraine, a source familiar with the conversation told Reuters.
Trump, who has been critical of the scale of U.S. military and financial support for Ukraine, has vowed to end the war quickly but has not detailed how he plans to do so. Earlier this week, Trump also spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
In response, U.S. President Joe Biden is planning to meet with Trump to encourage him to continue supporting Ukraine, as concerns grow over Trump’s stance on the conflict. Biden hopes to persuade Trump not to abandon Kyiv in the face of ongoing Russian aggression.
