Ukraine Launches Major Drone Attack on Moscow, Largest Strike Since 2022

At Least 34 Drones Target Russian Capital, Airports Disrupted, and One Injured

MOSCOW, Nov 10 – Ukraine launched a massive drone strike on Moscow on Sunday, marking the largest attack on the Russian capital since the war began in 2022. The assault involved at least 34 drones, forcing the diversion of flights from three major Moscow airports and resulting in at least one reported injury.

Russian air defences were activated in response, managing to destroy 36 additional drones over other regions of Western Russia in just three hours, according to the Russian Ministry of Defence. Despite the high interception rate, the scale of the attack on Moscow has raised alarm.

The Russian Defence Ministry referred to the strike as an “attempt by the Kyiv regime” to carry out a “terrorist attack” using drone aircraft. The exact extent of the damage in Moscow has yet to be fully assessed, but the incident highlights the growing reliance on drone warfare in the ongoing conflict.

The attack comes amid rising tensions as Ukraine has increasingly targeted Russian infrastructure, including military sites and strategic hubs, with drone operations becoming a frequent tactic. While Ukraine has not officially claimed responsibility for Sunday’s strike, such attacks have been a notable feature of the war since its outset.

Moscow’s airports, which were temporarily shut down due to the drone threat, have since resumed operations, though disruptions continue. The attack serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerability of Russian airspace and infrastructure, as the conflict continues to escalate.

As the war enters its second year, both sides are expected to further expand the use of drones, signaling a new phase in modern warfare that may redefine the landscape of the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
