Phil Salt Smashes Third T20I Century as England Crush West Indies in Series Opener

BARBADOS (November 9, 2024) – Phil Salt delivered a sensational century to power England to a dominant eight-wicket victory over the West Indies in the opening T20I of their five-match series in Barbados. Salt’s explosive 100 runs off just 58 balls, including nine boundaries and six sixes, put England in the driver’s seat as they chased down the West Indies’ total with ease.

Salt’s blistering knock was well supported by a composed 58* from debutant Jacob Bethell, who notched up his maiden half-century off 36 balls, guiding England to the target with 14 balls to spare.

The West Indies posted a challenging total, but Salt’s aggressive approach, alongside Bethell’s steady presence at the crease, ensured the tourists’ comfortable victory. England’s chase never looked in danger, and the pair’s partnership left the West Indies with little chance of fighting back.

The second T20I of the five-match series will take place on Sunday in Barbados, with the match scheduled to start at 8:00 pm UK time.

England’s impressive win puts them in a strong position as they look to extend their lead in the series.
