Rizwan Ties World Record for Most Catches in ODI

Adelaide, November 8, 2024: Pakistan’s captain Mohammad Rizwan made history in the second ODI against Australia by equaling the world record for the most catches in a single ODI match. Rizwan took 6 catches behind the stumps, matching the record set by several other players. However, a missed opportunity to catch a seventh delivery in the 34th over meant he couldn’t break the record.

Rizwan’s 6 catches tied the world record for most catches in an ODI innings. He now joins the list of players who have achieved this feat, including his fellow Pakistani wicketkeeper Sarfaraz Ahmed. The record for most catches in an ODI is held by Australian legend Adam Gilchrist, who took 6 catches in an inning four times.
