Man Reunited with Family After 34 Years, Cuts Ties Due to Financial Disputes
China, Nov 6 – A man who was abducted as a child and reunited with his biological family after 34 years has decided to cut ties with them due to ongoing financial issues.
37-year-old Yu Baobao was kidnapped when he was 2 years old from his grandfather’s home in Sichuan province. He was sold to a wealthy family in Henan and raised under the name Li Qiang. It wasn’t until September 2023, when his DNA matched his mother’s, that he discovered his true identity and family.
After being told he was adopted at age 5, Yu was mistreated by the family that bought him, often being abused. At 11, he was sent to another family, but at 19, he ran away and moved to Shanghai and then Beijing, working as a delivery rider while searching for his real family.
When he was finally reunited with his biological family, Yu learned that his parents had separated, and his brothers were deep in debt. Despite this, he decided to help them by starting an online business, sharing 60% of the income with his family.
However, his brothers took advantage of him, claiming that they had done him a favor by accepting him into the family. Yu’s mother also continued asking him for money. This situation led to tensions, and in September, Yu’s father officially declared he no longer wanted to be part of the family.
Feeling mistreated, Yu Baobao has now decided to break all ties with his family. While he still misses his mother, he says he no longer wants to have any relationship with them.
