Violence at Hindu Temple Near Toronto Condemned by Trudeau

Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has condemned violence at the Hindu Sabha Mandir in Brampton, near Toronto, calling it “unacceptable.” The protest outside the temple led to clashes, with videos showing groups carrying Khalistan and Indian flags confronting each other.

No arrests were made, according to Peel Regional Police, who maintained a strong presence to keep peace. Chandra Arya, a Canadian lawmaker, blamed “Khalistani extremists” for the unrest. The incident follows strained Canada-India relations over accusations that India was involved in the 2023 killing of Sikh activist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada.

India has urged Canada to protect places of worship and ensure safety for Indian nationals, expressing concern over the violence.
