Protesters Shout “Murderer” at King Felipe VI During Valencia Visit
King Felipe VI of Spain faced angry crowds in Paiporta, Valencia, where recent flash floods caused significant damage. People shouted “murderer” at the king, and some threw objects and mud at him as he arrived to assess the situation.
In response to the flooding, Spain’s national weather agency (AEMET) issued new red weather warnings for parts of southern Valencia. These warnings indicate that severe weather is expected and that people should take precautions.
Due to the dangerous conditions, Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez had to be evacuated from the area. Meanwhile, King Felipe and Queen Letizia decided to cancel their planned trip to Chiva, another town affected by the floods.
The flash floods have been devastating, resulting in at least 217 deaths, with many more people still missing. The government and emergency services are working hard to help those affected and to manage the ongoing crisis.
