Israel’s 24-Day Offensive in Gaza and Lebanon Leaves Thousands Dead, UN Chief Condemns High Civilian Toll
srael’s ongoing 24-day military campaign in northern Gaza has resulted in over 1,000 casualties, predominantly women and children, as reported by health officials. In a separate attack, Israeli airstrikes targeted the Raml neighborhood in the Lebanese city of Tyre, resulting in the deaths of at least five people and injuries to ten others, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency.
On Sunday alone, Israeli forces killed at least 53 people in Gaza and 21 in Lebanon. This surge in violence led UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to express profound shock over the “harrowing levels of death, injury, and destruction” in the severely impacted region of northern Gaza.
Since October 7, 2023, Israeli strikes in Gaza have killed at least 42,924 people and injured 100,833, while at least 1,139 individuals in Israel have lost their lives in Hamas-led attacks, with over 200 taken captive. In Lebanon, the Israeli attacks have led to at least 2,574 casualties, including 127 children, and injured 12,001 people since the conflict began.
