British MPs Demand Action from UK Government for Imran Khan’s Freedom
UK: More than 20 British parliamentarians have called on UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy to discuss the release of Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), who is currently imprisoned in Adiala Jail.
The letter, initiated by MP Kim Johnson at the request of Zulfi Bukhari, Khan’s advisor, highlights concerns about Khan’s detention, which the MPs believe is politically motivated and aims to prevent him from running for office.
They urged the UK government to advocate for his release, emphasizing that his imprisonment poses a threat to democracy in Pakistan.
Zulfi Bukhari expressed gratitude to the parliamentarians for their support, noting that more MPs are expected to join the effort for Khan’s release.
